Photography is very much a capture of a moment to preserve it forever. Many times when we hire a photographer or see them at events we think of the images as a way to detail our day or what happened to show others. Yet many times in my experience images taken with suck innocent meanings usually also end up being the ones to remember someone when they are no longer with us.
I have talked quite a few times how my images have ended up being some of the last taken of a person, or animal before they have passed this world for the next. And how it isn’t necessarily what photographers want when they make photos but is a reality of the work we do.
For me as a photographer this started happening very, very early in my career and usually a few times a year sense. This year yet another beautiful horse passed just a few days after I photographed its last horse show. The family reached out to me, wishing for the many images I had and so I designed them a remembrance photo-book complete with a custom portrait of their beloved equine companion Snow.
