I know this is a long awaited image… however the wait was worth it to see my favorite image created in 2024!
I adore this image. I have adored it in all its form from the original that shows the barn widow that helped create the silhouette you see here to this version that really shows a gorgeous artistic image of my sister with her mare.
I call this image Rewarded Moments.
The name comes from the action. This image was made not long after my sisters mare birth her gorgeous colt Lumi. My sister got her favorite peppermint treats and was rewarding her for bringing a gorgeous baby into the world and doing such a great job with the birth.
When I went to the barn for the birth this wasn’t the image I expected to make but this is the image that has been with me since I made it. It is an image that speaks to me and that I could look at for hours. It is an image that tells a story and is a piece of art. It is an image that won an Honorable Mention in The Prix de la Photographie, Paris Awards just a few months after it was made.
