So last month the Ringling Bros made their way to Pittsburgh and I along with my family headed to their Sunday performance. It has been years, many, many years since I have actually attended a circus and it was my nieces first time. Which consisted of many questions about what she could expect and then my inability to remember because I was younger than she was the last time the circus came to town.
This was a modern take on the circus. Devoid of animals and consisting of acts brought in from many different and unique cultures. It was definitely cool to this world traveler to see some things I have never seen before.
The hardest part was leaving my professional equipment at home as it was prohibited at the arena. As a photographer who loves photographing live shows for the challenge it was hard being without my gear and my trigger happy finger turn toward my phone.
Unfortunately, the distance from the arenas, the lights, and movement made it very difficult to photograph with the phone thus I turned to video which is not my favorite medium. Anyways, I got great clips and made a fun little video of the show for my niece to show her school friends who may not have had the opportunity to go.
