Last year I just barely managed an entry to the IPA Awards at the very last minute. Mostly because I forgot and because sometimes I get in the mood and want to entry something new and last year I just happened to take some cool dahlia images before the end of the competition. Which lead me to the emails for early entries for this years competition, I still had two great choices from last years, one of which was already an honorary mention.
But the other is a competition first as it was taken after most the competitions closed for the year and therefore was going to have to wait for the 2024 season. I love this image it is far from perfection, it isn’t the sharpest, or the best in color but it tells a story and has an art quality to it.
I love this image and that could be what makes it a terrible choice for this competition because my love of it doesn’t exactly make it an award winner. I guess a panel of judges can decide that— wish me luck.
