It has been a long summer. Not in time but rather in weather and canceled events. Usually during the summers I spend a fair bit of time outdoors photographing equestrians showing their mounts in various shows. But this year as a been a series of cancellations because of weather.
And there really is nothing that can be done about that. It is part of being a photographer. However between that, high fuel costs, and raising inflation this felt like the year to take time off and just be. I knew I was in a good place financially that I could afford to take the loss of income and still maintain my business, so I will not profit this year and that is fine because I got something better than profit.
I got a true break, I got to exist and start to recuperate from the last several years of struggle and worry because of covid shutting things down and making life horrible for small business owners. I got time to be and I needed that time. I haven’t made a lot of decision yet regarding my business, whether I want to keep the LLC for let it go and do photography as a hobby again— I have toyed with this idea the last few years and I like it but I also want to teach photography and pass my skills along.
Anyways, while I am figuring out next steps my local horsing club finally got to have their first contest show of the season. Though end of August is late it is better than never. Check out a few shots below and link to the full gallery!
