Another year. Another chance to win some photography awards. In 2024 I entered two images into the PX3 photography competition, for the 2025 entry season I have opted to enter three beating last years entries by one.
Choosing images to submit is difficult because even though I have made many, many amazing images half of the process is thinking like a judge and how the image can be viewed in an artistic light within the category entered.
I had five images I really liked for contest but figuring out categories was challenging. Especially for two of the images, they aren’t quite portraits but they aren’t fine art at all. But the first image I knew was being entered for sure was of a purple dahlia I made at my friends flower field.
I made many beautiful dahlia images including with a natural black background, but this purple one spoke to me. It is an image that stays in my head and is not something I have easily forgotten so it secured its spot in Nature/Flowers.
