As the year comes to a close so too does the fun horse shows at the Belmont County Fairgrounds. These are languid days of riders out playing with their horses in non-traditional classes such as panty hose races and egg and spoon.
The idea of these show days is to be a fun break between competitive shows and training for both horse and rider. For the second year it is definitely growing with more and more participants.
While the riders come for a fun day of riding and playing with their ponies for me as a photographer it is also a fun day of trying to capture different and challenging events, it allows me to test new lenses, and ideas without the threat of missing a vital shot during a big competition.
The last two fun shows were especially special as my niece who so patiently waited to rider her mother’s horse got to participate. Her mothers horse had given birth earlier in the year and had a baby on her for the first few shows.
This last show was the final point earner and had our biggest turn out yet. It was a fun day and I got a great many fun photos. Check out a few below.
