This throwback to my rodeo days is in honor of my favorite event in rodeo to capture with a camera…. Bronc Riding.
I started rodeo photography in 2010 following my sister who was a barrel racer to a few local rodeos. From there I befriended a rodeo performer just starting his career in trick riding and would spend a decade traveling to rodeos and growing as a midwest rodeo photographer.
I would join the IPRA (International Pro Rodeo Association) and shoot 1000s of images a year. I learned to shoot in all light but especially the worst, and I made a great many friends.
Bronc Riding became one of my favorite events to capture because the broncs bucked the entire arena and were many times more wild than the bulls of rodeo— and sometimes the sheep!
I never captured the same image twice and can visualize more favorite bronc images than from any other event. Check out one of them above!
